The Uncommon Thread

Alpaca Sock / Colours

*Colourways often look very different on different yarn bases. Feel free to contact us with a query.

This listing is for a single skein of Alpaca Sock yarn. If you are looking for a colourway and can't find it, it might be in the neutrals listing. Please choose colourway from the drop down menu and select the number of skeins you require.

Approx 100g – 60% superwash merino wool, 20% alpaca, 20% nylon
400m (440yds) per 100g – Fingering weight

As alpaca is renowned for being a particularly insulating fibre, this yarn will knit up into the warmest socks with a slight halo. It has beautiful stitch definition and a slight shine. But it's not just for socks! This yarn is next to the skin soft and can be knit into sweaters or anything else your imagination will take you.

20% VAT will be charged on parcels being sent within the UK, EU VAT at your country's rate

As with other hand dyed yarns, we would recommend alternating skeins every two rows or so.

We care deeply about the environment and we're aware of the effects that chemicals can have on it, so we make every effort to exhaust all dyes in the dyebath so that no nasties go down the plughole. It is not always possible to exhaust *all* the dye, all the time, especially with certain dyeing techniques, so if you intend on using your yarn for colourwork or with paler colours it pays to give it a wash first, just to be sure.

We try to ensure all colours look true on our monitor but they can vary substantially. If you’re unsure about a particular colourway please get in touch!
