I drew inspiration from my favorite pants across cultures—India, Vietnam, and Thailand—and reimagined them with a modern, urban silhouette to create Papao, tapered wrap pants. For versatility and a perfect fit, I designed an adjustable wrap closure that eliminates the need for elastic, buttons, or zippers. From the beginning, I had three goals in mind: the pants had to be supremely comfortable and versatile without sacrificing style, crafted from natural fibers like cotton and linen, and designed to stand the test of time, avoiding fleeting fast fashion trends.

Papao features an elegant asymmetrical wrap closure, a tapered cut, and an extra-high waist that sits comfortably above the belly button. Its cropped 7/8 length adds to its timeless charm. You can choose to sew it with or without the optional front pocket, making it an adaptable and satisfying project. Perfect for motivated beginners, these pants are as practical as they are stylish.
