12oz Organic Sanded Twill - Black

Price is per QUARTER metre. For example, if you require 1.5 metres, you’ll need to enter 6 in the quantity box. Fabric will be supplied in one continuous length.

This is a classic twill made from organic cotton, which has been washed and emerised at the mill for an incredibly soft brushed feel. Suitable for jackets, coats, bags, dungarees and trousers that require some structure, like the Eve pattern. Deep black.

100% organic cotton
150cm wide
12oz/410gsm
Oeko-Tex certified

Due to the nature of the organic cotton yarn which is less refined and processed, there may be the odd white speck in this cloth.

Machine wash at 40 with non-bio detergent, do not bleach
Iron on a medium heat
Tumble dry low

We recommend pre washing your fabric before sewing. Putting a large piece of medium-heavy weight canvas into the washing machine can sometimes lead to white creases in the fabric, this is because it is a stiff fabric so it doesn’t have room to move around. We recommend doing the following to avoid this happening:

Wash your fabric on its own for the first wash.
Sink your fabric in water beforehand, letting it fully absorb, so you are putting it in already wet.
If you can break up your fabric in half this will help.
For the first wash use a delicate 30 degree cycle with a low spin.
If any white creases develop, ironing on a medium heat whilst still damp will help.

As with other hand dyed yarns, we would recommend alternating skeins every two rows or so.

We care deeply about the environment and we're aware of the effects that chemicals can have on it, so we make every effort to exhaust all dyes in the dyebath so that no nasties go down the plughole. It is not always possible to exhaust *all* the dye, all the time, especially with certain dyeing techniques, so if you are intending on using your yarn for colourwork or with paler colours it pays to give it a wash first, just to be sure.

We try to ensure all colours look true on our monitor but they can vary substantially. If you’re unsure about a particular colourway please get in touch!
